Item 2. Public policy objectives for education in, and the teaching of, minority languages
As known, the former head of the Republic of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov was hiding behind Russian law in his (successful) attemp to justify the rapid adoption of the agreement on the establishment, but in fact, the change of borders between Ingushetia and Chechnya, bypassing public discussions as foreseen in the Constitution.
(more…)SJI sent a submission to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the freedom of peaceful assembly concerning the detention and pending trials of 7 activists from Ingushetia who were arrested following their participation in protests in March 2019 in the context of an ongoing internal border dispute between the Russian regions of Ingushetia and Chechnya. The 7 activists and public figures have been charged with inciting mass riots and are being held in pre-trial detention in Nalchik and Vladikavkaz.
It seems like no one really knows how many people are born, live, and die in Ingushetia. There is no confidence in official statistics. Statistical data is baseless as is approved by the initiated criminal cases against high-ranking officials of Pension Fund, Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance…
(more…)The Russian communications regulator, Roskomnadzor, has blocked Ingush news site Fortanga. The move came as one of the site’s journalists and an activist against Ingushetia’s land swap with Chechnya were remanded into two months of pre-trial detention.
